I’ve been struggling a lot lately with depression. I’ve always been very open about my mental health issues and how it affects my work. Sometimes I paint a dark and brooding piece but other times, like this, for example, it spurs me to use bright colors. Color has an impact on my mood kind of like listening to music brings out certain emotions. Purple is one of my favorite colors. It’s rich and calming for me like blues are too. I went bohemian on this vanity and it allowed me to feel the joy lacking in my heart.
I used redesign with prima’s Artisinal Tile transfer. I’ve been saving it to use on the right piece. It could not have occurred at a better time. The purple is Modern Masters Inc. Amethyst metallic paint. It’s the brightest purple I’ve ever seen. The turquoise is from Rust-Oleum. The top is bright gold. I used the redesign with prima paver stencil. I created an ombre of blues and whites on the sides. I’m calling this one my genie in a bottle.
