“She was like the sun, She knew her place in the world – She would shine again regardless of all the storms and changeable weather She wouldn’t adjust her purpose for things that pass.” ― Nikki Rowe
As the warmth of summer disappears and the crisp cold of Autumn approaches, I am reminded of the harshness of winter ahead. The numbing cold and earlier dark days. The difficulty of working in a cold garage even with my heater nearby. Every year I deal with seasonal depression. I do all I can to overcome it, take vitamin D, replace all my light bulbs with those that mimic sunlight, take my meds, try to enjoy the daylight as much as I can, and try to not allow the stress of the holidays to affect me too much. Gold to me is like the sunlight kissing my face. Its radiance brings me joy and I feel alive.
I used Modern Masters’s rich gold and pale gold blend to create a vibrant yellow that isn’t too yellow but still just as saturated with brightness. I was lucky to come upon a pair. I only do pairs for nightstands and end tables in general. I love the curvy shape and tall size. I created the moulds using resin and hot glue. I sprayed them with Rustoleum’s Imagine brass color. The clouds of cream white and textured sand-like spray break up the yellow to give it lightness. The stone texture spray is from Rustoleum as well. On the sides, I created a raised stencil using Modern Master’s Shimmerstone plaster. It has a smooth texture that makes it easy to clean. The center of the front frame has the White Fleur transfer. One of my all-time favorite transfers. I promise to keep sharing bright and vibrant-colored pieces that I will be creating during the long winter days.
